A combined vaccination that protects against diphtheria, polio and tetanus is routinely given to all children in the UK. You should make sure you and your children are up-to date with your routine vaccinations before travelling. Further booster doses are usually only recommended if you're travelling to areas where access to medical services is likely to be limited or your last vaccination dose was more than 10 years ago.

The vaccine protects you for 10 years. After this, a booster dose is required.

The vaccine is usually given as an injection in the upper arm.
Common side effects include soreness at the injection site and generally feeling unwell.
The vaccine is available to anyone over the age of 10.
Certain countries which have a high risk of Polio, will require travellers to show evidence of vaccination before entering.
